'The Princess of Protection'

I acquired a stunning antique shoe buckle that resembled an eye to me, so I was excited, and very inspired.
Its Victoriana filigree and Gothic cross details were already exquisite, so I hand sculpted a realistic eyeball to create this 'Princess of Protection'.
Ocular amulets have been used for centuries to ward off negativity and evil eyes.

I prepped the buckle by removing the old fittings from it, polishing those tiny details on the metal and securing every sparkling diamonte to ensure none of them fall out.
I crafted a hazel green eyeball using enamel, glass and jewellery grade resin. I framed it with a stainless steel bezel, then secured it into the filigree 'eye' setting. To add more movement and protective reflection I have added shimmering silver 'tears'.
The result is a hauntingly beautiful, dazzling
eye with a little secret.... It glows iridescent green in uv/black light.

I have suspended this gorgeous amulet from a pretty sterling silver chain to compliment the delicate details in the setting.
