Introducing
"The Blood Diamond Baroness"

This beguiling creation started with the ethically sourced Redback Spider featured in my previous post. (A friend found her deceased and gave her to me)
She still had her vivid blood red stripe when she was found (the red fades after the spider has been deceased for a while) so I wanted to preserve her whilst the colour was still intense.

I have set her onto a white enamel background, and preserved and coated her limb by limb,  so that she is very durable, yet protuding slightly so that she  still looks alive.
This Baroness is guarding her royal treasure: a precious 'blood diamond' , which is symbolised by a deep red garnet set in solid sterling silver. She is surrounded by more treasure in the form of genuine 24ct gold flakes.

Her setting is a vintage brass filigree piece that I have oxidized and added a sterling silver border  to. 
To complete this regal creation I
I have hung the pendant from a vintage, blackened copper chain that is extra long in length;  long enough to wrap around the neck twice to create a double chain.
