This wonderfully dramatic creation started with a beautiful Redback Spider
The spider was ethically sourced ie: deceased when found.
(I do not kill for my creations) ❤️❤️❤️
This specimen is female, and has an engorged abdomen ( I suspect full.of eggs) hence it not being as dark as the rest of her body. As the abdomen stretches its colour also thins out.
I have honoured this redback by preserving her, and setting her into a filigree vintage brooch which is now repurposed as a pendant. I set her amongst some tiny web details before coating her with multiple layers that enable her to be protected, yet still protruding to give dimenaion and a 'living' appearance. I added a vintage gold chain border to the setting to compliment the gold in the vintage wooden rosary beads that she is hanging from. The filigree cross is oxided brass and I have set it with a blood red Swarovski crystal.
The rosary measures 70cm long with extra links so this piece can be dounvles and worn as a short necklace , or left hanging long.
The Arachnian Atonement is definately a conversation started and it comes beautifully boxed .
