" Esme, The Emerald City Guardian"'

This eye catching piece started with this amazing Blowfly.
Her stunning metallic green colour display made me think of The Wizard of Oz, so that's the inspiration for this creation.
I named her Esme.

I have preserved and set Esme as a guardian. She watches over a beautiful Green heart, which is the prized jewel of The Emerald City.

The heart is crafted from green glass, and the 'city' was created by using green crystal shards and holographic flakes for extra sparkle.
💫💫💫
But the real magic happens in the dark, as the scene then comes alive with a luminescent green glow.
To achieve this I added phosphorescent elements to the heart, the city and the tips of Esme's wings.
This then all glows under UV light, or in the dark after being 'charged' by daylight.

Esme and the city are mounted onto a piece of paui shell that I have set onto a filigree brass  base, and set with a Swarovski
Crystal.

The underside of the paui shell is also luminescent so this glows from underneath too.

The scene is housed under a glass dome, and finished with matching brass fittings and a 55cm brass chain. Dome is 4.5cm tall x 2.5cm wide.
